Salt Lake Sports
Whether you are a devoted fan or just a casual observer, you are probably familiar with the major sports teams in the Salt Lake area. Among them are the BYU Cougars, the Utah Jazz, the Utah Grizzlies, and the Utah Utes. You may also be aware of minor league sports like minor league baseball and soccer.
Utah Grizzlies
During the last three seasons, the Utah Grizzlies have played home games at the Maverik Center, a facility located southwest of downtown Salt Lake City. The Grizzlies are a member of the Western Conference in the ECHL, and are an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
The Grizzlies have been to the playoffs in 12 of the last 13 seasons. Their home field is the Maverik Center, which is just minutes away from the Salt Lake City International Airport.
There are many different things to watch in the Utah Grizzlies’ hockey games. They are a member of the ECHL, so they play a fast-paced style of hockey. The Grizzlies’ playoffs have been a mix of good and bad, but the team has found a way to win. They are currently in the ECHL Western Conference finals against the Toledo Walleye.
Utah Jazz
During the 1980s, the Utah Jazz slid financially and went on a losing streak. The team had its first franchise player committed suicide, and Bernard King was arrested for five felony sex charges.
A few years later, the Jazz moved to Salt Lake City, a smaller market. The move did not help attendance. The team’s average attendance was down, and a high amusement tax made the team even more unappealing to fans.
In the 2000s, the Jazz were one of the strongest teams in the Western Conference, and in 2002, the Jazz won the first round of the play-offs for the first time in team history. They advanced again two more times in the following four seasons.
In 2007, the Jazz had a record-tying 19-game home winning streak. They also drafted two players in the top 14 picks of the draft.
BYU Cougars
Throughout BYU’s history, the Cougars have won a national championship in 1984 and 23 conference titles. The Cougars have also produced 52 All-Americans and 13 consensus all-americans.
Last season, BYU’s offense ranked fifth in efficiency. This season, it ranks 20th by FEI ratings. However, BYU’s defense has a very different look. It has allowed a lot of yards, and has given up big plays. It needs to be more consistent and get off the field on third down.

Minor league baseball
Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends or a family outing, Salt Lake Bees games are a great way to spend a day. They play in the Pacific Coast League, which is a minor league baseball league affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels.
The Salt Lake Bees have a history that dates back to 1911. The first version of the Bees was a Utah-Idaho League team. In 1959, the Bees won the league championship. They were a charter member of the PCL. The original Bees never won the PCL pennant, but they did draw well considering their small market.
In 1970, the Pacific Coast League returned to Salt Lake City. The first game was played in Bonneville Park. The Bees then moved to Los Angeles, California, where they played as the Hollywood Bees. They played there from 1936-1968.
Major league soccer
Having been without ownership for two years, Major league soccer at Salt Lake Sports is now owned by David Blitzer. This isn’t a rebranding, but a change. The ownership will continue to keep the club’s egalitarian academy-driven model intact.
The new owners have a big plan for their new venture. They’ve also made a commitment to improve RSL’s facilities.
Real Salt Lake has a great record at home. In 2010, they made it all the way to the finals of the CONCACAF Champions League, and they’ve had a strong home record for years. They also have a lot of room to upgrade their roster.
The most recent MLS season saw RSL finish second to the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference. They’ve also finished as runners-up in the Supporters Shield.
